Global RDAP Service

This product gives you access to our Global RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) server. The server provides availability information (partially including registration data) on individual domains, provided that they belong to a TLD offered by CPS-Datensysteme.

Use of the service is 100% RFC-compliant, covering both gTLDs such as .COM, .NET, or .ORG, and many ccTLDs. In proxy mode, we combine structured RDAP data and WHOIS data in text form into JSON feedback – each depending on what technology is supported by the queried registration office.

Additionally, we offer quick querying of availability in check mode. DNS is used for this in addition to RDAP and WHOIS. Any check query is also reconciled with a comprehensive inventory database with premium domains. Hits are marked in accordance with the output.

The global RDAP service is, of course, only available via TLS and secured with access details.

Technical background

Our RDAP server supplies different information from case to case in the two operating modes PROXY and CHECK:

With the PROXY query, RDAP data available at the registration office are queried and delivered. If a registration office does not provide us with RDAP access yet, we use the WHOIS data and embed them in the JSON response ("whois_data": [ARRAY]).

The CHECK query supplies strict availability information ("is_available": "true") and a corresponding notice ("is_pemium": "true") if the queried domain is a premium domain.
