Felix Weigand founds the company CPS-ComputerService in Neuwied, specialising in “computer systems and IT equipment”. The company’s first own web servers go into operation and serve as the basis for web hosting services.
A new chapter in the company’s history begins, symbolised by the change of name to CPS-Datensysteme: The registration and administration of domain names using a fully automated software system becomes the company’s main focus. The SSL certificate division is established as a complementary business segment. Reports in the specialised press strengthen growth and result in an increase in the domain portfolio of over 60%. The number of domains reaches 40,000 by the end of 2003.
The development of a new future-orientated domain management software is completed. The company is converted into a corporation on 1 October 2005. In the following year, ICANN accreditation is successfully completed and the expansion of direct memberships continues. The domain portfolio exceeds the 100,000 domain name mark in December 2006. Accreditations with EURid (.EU), Restena (.LU), NASK (.PL) and SIDN (.NL) are also successfully implemented.
Accreditations with a further 12 registries, including Spain and Qatar, are successfully completed. The company moves into its new headquarter in Gilgenborn, Vallendar.
