How can I report the abusive use of a domain?

If you have found an abusive use of a domain, please let us know by Complaint form.

What is a registrar?

A registrar is a company which is technically and organisationally solely specialised in the management of domains and if necessary bordering services. It can be compared to a wholesaler. Due to the extensive knowledge which is needed at the registry level, it is seldom possible for a normal provider also operate as a registrar.

You would like to delete a domain?

Provided that your provider no longer reacts to your requests, we will gladly help you with the deletion of your domain. You can find the necessary form below.

Why was my domain deleted?

A domain may be deleted for several reasons. Usually the supporting provider requests this based on the corresponding order of the domain holder. Orders of the domain holder may be

  • Deletion order for immediate deletion of the domain
  • Termination of the domain and thus deletion at the end of the paid term

A domain may also be deleted in exceptions if

  • court or arbitration proceedings demand this (e.g. UDRP)
  • the domain holder violates the registration contract (e.g. defective address data in WHOIS)
  • the contractual relationship between the supporting provider and us as the relevant registrar expires (e.g. due to breach of contract)
Can my domain be restored after deletion?

The availability to restore (RESTORE) of a domain depends on the top-level domain (TLD). Where available for the TLD, a domain will fall into the redemption period (also "Redemption Grace Period" or "quarantine") after deletion. This period takes between 30 and 40 days depending on TLD (deletion -> redemption phase -> domain freely available). Within this period, the respective domain can only be reactivated for the last domain holder. After the end of the recovery phase, the domain is available for re-registration by third parties. The redemption period is displayed in a WHOIS-request.

Since restoration is subject to fees, it can only be performed by a partner company authorised by us. The costs for recovery shall be specified by the partner company at its own discretion.

Information on recovery is available  under en.complaint@remove-this.cps-datensysteme.de

Can I force CPS-Datensysteme to delete a domain or to transfer it to me?

As a basic principle, only the domain owner is entitled to request such orders. Therefore we neither take sides nor do we make a decision for or against an order or request. Therefore provided that you

  • regard your rights as being violated by the registration of a domain, or
  • regard the name of a domain as being legally incorrect, or
  • regard the content of a website run under a certain domain legally incorrect, then

please always contact the owner of the website or rather the domain. We can only act after submission of a judical decision from a competent court responsible for this case.

My homepage is offline

We do not supervise web pages. Hence, only your provider is sole contact person on issues concerning your home page.

Direct domain administration by CPS

We do not provide services for end customers. Hence, a direct domain administration by CPS is not possible for your domain. However we will gladly recommend an alternative provider to you from our customer data base who will help you with a transfer and the establishment of your home page.

You would like to change providers (COM / NET / ORG / BIZ / INFO domain)?

Provided that your provider no longer reacts to your requests, we will gladly help you with the impending change of providers (KK).

From a legal standpoint we are only permitted to agree to KK applications which were authorised by the domain owner (Owner-C) or his/her authorised signatory (Admin-C). Such an authorisation must be effected in the written form (via fax or letter post) and must be signed by one of these two persons. As a reseller (possibly Tech-C) you unfortunately have no authority.

Transfers of COM / NET / ORG / BIZ and INFO domains are not possible unti 60 days after registration / the last transfer. This is a legal restriction on the part of the ICANN on which we have absolutely no influence!

You can receive the AUTH-CODE required for a transfer of COM / NET / ORG / BIZ / INFO domains upon request vial email from your Owner-C email address).

Attention: Changes of providers are only possible if directly requested by the respective domain owner. Providers / resellers who manage domains by assignment of the domain owner do not have the required authority.

What does processing of an application cost?

Processing of an application by us is free of charge at this time. However, we would be happy for you to donate to an organisation that we support.

How long does it take to process an application?

At the moment, applications are processed in 5 to 10 days. Please do not submit multiple applications or any questions during this time. Please also note our complaint management.

You would like to change provides (DE-Domain)?

How can I initiate a dispute lock?

To initiate a dispute lock of a domain please send us:

  • An informal letter in which you explain the circumstances to us. This letter must be signed by you personally and should be written on your company stationary
  • The letter must inform about steps you have already undertaken as well as the ones you have planned (e.g. a DENIC dispute, EURID-ADR or legal action against the domain owner)
  • Please enclose
    - an excerpt of the WHOIS data on whom your complaint is based
    - proof of identity (e.g. a copy of your ID card)

What does a dispute / complaint procedure accomplish?

Even if CPS-Datensysteme does not involve itself in conflicts regarding domains, we can place a so-called dispute lock on the respective domain. Primarily this instrument prevents the domain owner from being able to transfer the domain to third parties and therefore to be able to avoid the dispute he/she is having with you. Furthermore this action makes it temporarily impossible to delete or transfer the domain concerned.

Please also inform yourself about the possible procedures of the respective registries (e.g. the DENIC dispute procedure or the EURID-ADR).

Why does CPS manage my domains?

CPS-Datensysteme acts as a so-called domain registrar. A domain registrar manages Internet domains by order of its customers. In our case only providers and agencies belong to our customers. If you were referred to us by  a registry, then we manage your domains by order of your provider and would like to thank you for you interest in CPS-Datensysteme. However your contact person is primarily your provider. If you do not know who your provider is, please use the WHOIS (public data base of domain owners and administration data) below.

What does transit / hold status mean?

Should a domain no longer be managed by us but there was no application for deletion made on the part of the domain owner, then we can put the domain into transit / hold. Further information can be found in the FAQs of the responsible registries.

Alteration of the WHOIS data

Alterations of the WHOIS data can only be executed by either

  • the responsible provider
  • or the domain owner

The responsible provider can conduct such alterations in an automated way. Should you as a domain owner wish to alter your WHOIS data, then please always first contact your provider. Should he/she actually not be able to be reached, then you can request an alteration of the data using the following forms.
